Description

The Fornax Dwarf Galaxy is a Magnitude 7.40  elliptical dwarf galaxy in the constellation Fornax and a satellite of the Milky Way. It is almost one degree in size. It contains six globular clusters; the largest of which is  Fornax Dwarf Cluster 3 (NGC 1049) which was discovered before the galaxy itself and ESO 356-1 Mag 14.5 is visible across on the other side.

After weeks of cloud Friday was spectacular with seeing about as good as it gets and PHD looked like it was flat lining in a coma.

From the 10 hours I have collected on this object since 2021 I kept 5.75 hours.

In Pixinsight, much like with Globulars, Blur Exterminator Non-Stellar sharpening was not used and correction was only gently applied to the calibrated subs. ACDNR was use to generate lightness masks. So much better than Range Selection. SPCC delivers such perfect Histograms these days that for this star dense field I just go back to STF and Histogram Transformation for conversion to Non-Linear. GHS has it's place for fields with complex emissions and reflections etc but a perfect Histogram is hard to beat :-)
